Earlier this year, folk dude Sam Beam dug into into his Iron & Wine vaults for the B-sides album Archive Series Volume No. 1. Now, he's announced Archive Series Volume No. 2, although it's a much smaller-scale project, containing just two cover songs on a 7-inch.
Beam has shared the A-side, which is a rendition of Neil Young's Tonight's the Night track "Albuquerque." He strips away the full-band arrangement of the original, tuning it into a low-key acoustic boogie that contains an instrumental bridge of whistling and twangy banjo. Hear it below.
The single comes backed with a version of "It's the Same Old Song" by the Four Tops. It will arrive through Black Cricket Recording Co. on October 16 and can be pre-ordered here.
