Isabelle's Gift

Somewhere between the whiny, derivative modern rock of Creed and Matchbox 20, the retro throb of Nashville Pussy and Monster Magnet, and the redneck boogie of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet sits the Southern fried punk rock of South Carolina's Isabelle's Gift. The band's third release is an homage to a Southern lifestyle without the scary, gun-toting undercurrent of too many bands from that part of the world. They simply yearn for a return to the days of beer drinking, pot smoking and sex set to a down-home soundtrack. As subversive as anything Black Sabbath has ever done and more ballsy than the last three Monster Magnet records combined. Interestingly this record is also the first from the label started by Bloodhound Gang front-man Jimmy Pop. Any similarities between the bands is purely lyrical.
