J Mascis Prepping New 'Tied to a Star' Solo LP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 21, 2014

Dinosaur Jr. leader J Mascis is set to get back to his solo career, having just revealed a new album titled Tied to a Star is coming our way this summer.

News of the full-length came last night (May 20) on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where Mascis was sitting in on guitar with the program's Fred Armisen-led 8G Band. Though not too much has been revealed behind the album just yet, it's set to be delivered through Sub Pop. An exact due date has not been offered up, though it will arrive in the summer months.

Though no song info has been unveiled, you can see the set's adorable artwork up above. While it hasn't been confirmed, the painting of furry, horned critters resting beneath a leafy tree looks as if it were prepped by regular Mascis/Dinosaur Jr. collaborator Marq Spusta, who had also delivered the album art for Mascis' 2011 Sub Pop debut Several Shades of Why.

Before the rest of the album info arrives, you can check out Mascis' solo concert schedule below.
