J The S

My Will

Boston, MA's J the S's My Will is a mixtape presented by DJ Warrior and Mr. Peter Parker, which is a prelude to the forthcoming album The Last Days. It opens with an interview of '80s WWF star Jake the Snake Roberts conducted by Mean Gene Okerlund. You see, J the S actually wants to go by the name Jake the Snake but for some reason doesn't, at least in any official capacity. It is assumed that he can't use the moniker due to copyright but it begs the question: why didn't he just come up with another name? The album is carried by its production, which is solid and harkens back to a mid-'90s sound. However, the appeal of a mixtape, at least in some part, is due to the fact that each track usually has vocals by someone brand new. While J the S's street-hop isn't terrible by any stretch, neither is it awe-inspiring and after a while, the album just becomes uninspiring and boring.
