Jack White has long had a love affair with country music, but after this year's Country Music Awards nominee announcements, it appears that country music is also having a love affair with lil' Jackie boy.
Once again one of White's songs has been nominated for prestigious country and western music bling. This time it's the Raconteurs' collaboration with Ricky Scaggs and Ashley Monroe on "Old Enough," from the band's latest album, Consolers of the Lonely.
Gunning for the award of best musical event, White and company will be matched up against some of country music's most intimidating names - Randy Travis, Lee Ann Womack and George Straight, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney and Mac McAnally, and Brooks and Dunn. If the Raconteurs prevail, it would be the second year in a row that a rock artist has nabbed the award, as last year's winner was the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss ditty "Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On)."
White won a country Grammy in 2005 for best country collaboration with vocals. The award was given to him and country legend Loretta Lynn for the song "Portland, Oregon." White also produced Lynn's Van Lear Rose album, which won a Grammy itself.
The 43rd Annual Country Music Association Awards take place on November 11 in Nashville. We're rooting for ya, Raconteurs.
