In 2004, Jack White helped to revitalize country legend Loretta Lynn's career by producing her outstanding comeback Van Lear Rose. Now, White is hoping to repeat history with "Queen of Rockabilly" Wanda Jackson, as the White Stripes front-man has signed on to produce her upcoming album.
In an interview with the Oklahoman [via TwentyFourBit], Jackson revealed that she was introduced to White by web designer John Hensley, who told her that the singer/producer/label boss was a fan. This soon led to a collaboration.
"They had a super album, but he didn't have her do anything different, you know," Jackson said of White's album with Lynn. "She just did her little Loretta Lynn songs. But he told me he's gonna stretch me some, so we'll see. We'll talk later."
Jackson and White are also planning on releasing a digital single before tackling the album.
Of course, Jackson is no stranger to high-profile connections; her 2003 album Heart Trouble included collaborations with Elvis Costello and the Cramps, and in the 1950s she dated Elvis Presley while the pair were on tour together.
