R&B android Janelle Monáe appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming animated film Rio 2, and now her contribution has arrived online.
"What Is Love" — which bears no relation to the Haddaway song — is a bright and funky R&B cut with a Latin undercurrent. The video brings this sense of fun to life by showing Monáe and some bandmates performing the song in the studio under the watchful eye of some animated birds from the film.
The Rio 2 soundtrack is due out on March 25. The movie comes to theatres on April 11; Monáe plays a small voice role in the film.
