Considering the release of Jane's Addiction's upcoming The Great Escape Artist was pushed back from its original street date of September 27 to October 18, we've now got an extra couple of weeks on our hands to twiddle our thumbs wondering if Perry Farrell and co. knocked it out of the park this time around. Perhaps sensing our discontent, the classic alt-rock deities have unveiled the artwork for the platter and, uh, it's a little creepy, to say the least.
Like Ritual de lo Habitual before it, The Great Escape Artist features a fairly emaciated, sexed-up cover star. The puppet on display stands smiling in a messy room with its arms wrapped around it as if tied up in an invisible straight jacket.
Though chances are this could be some sort of Houdini-type reference, considering the nudie poster tacked up nearby, maybe the great escape occurs right around the fringes of dude's banana hammock. Only time will tell.
The Great Escape Artist is due out via Capitol.
