Jane's Addiction Reveal Release Date for 'The Great Escape Artist'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 12, 2011

We've been learning scraps of information about Jane's Addiction's upcoming LP ever since last year. Now, we've finally got a release date to mark on our calendars: The Great Escape Artist is due to arrive on North American shelves on September 27 via Capitol (it will be released a day earlier in Europe).

MySpace confirmed the date when it posted an in-studio video, which you can see below. Along with live clips, it shows the band sitting around the recording studio, discussing arrangements and noodling with parts.

There are some characteristically strange interview moments with singer Perry Farrell. The video also features TV on the Radio multi-instrumentalist Dave Sitek, who joined the band as bassist following the departure of Duff McKagan.

Farrell previously told Rolling Stone that The Great Escape Artist is "a strange mixture of that post-punk goth darkness that Jane's had with what's going on today with groups like Muse and Radiohead."

Watch the video for the album's lead-off single "End to the Lies" right here.

The Great Escape Artist will be Jane's Addiction fourth studio LP overall and their first since 2003's Strays.
