Janet Weiss Is Touring with Quasi Instead of Sleater-Kinney

The duo's tour takes place at the same time as Sleater-Kinney's

Following the abrupt departure from Sleater-Kinney, drum goddess Janet Weiss has revealed that rather than playing with the band she will head out on tour with her other project Quasi. Oddly, the Quasi tour takes place at the exact same time as her previously announced trek with Sleater-Kinney.

Weiss has revealed a West Coast North American tour with her longtime Quasi partner Sam Coomes, with the pair kicking off a string of dates in October. As Sleater-Kinney fans know, this is also when the group are taking their upcoming album The Center Won't Hold on tour.

A total coincidence? Maybe. Something Weiss has been planning for a while? Likely.

You can see all the dates of the Quasi tour below.

As previously reported, Weiss exited her longtime job in Sleater-Kinney early this month, saying, "The band is heading in a new direction and it is time for me to move on."

The band's Carrie Brownstein responded to the announcement of the drummer's departure by saying the group "expected and wanted [Weiss] to be a part of" the upcoming tour and album cycle, but that they were nevertheless going to "honor the work" by continuing on without Weiss.

The St. Vincent-produced The Center Won't Hold is due out August 16 via Mom + Pop. You can see Sleater-Kinney's Quasi-conflicting North American tour dates over here.
