Japanese Breakfast Cover Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" with String Quartet

It's from the newly released 'Live at Electric Lady'

Japanese Breakfast is keeping her triumphant 2021 going, this time by releasing a live-in-studio EP with a string quartet that includes a version of Weezer's "Say It Ain't So."

Live at Electric Lady includes neo-classical renditions of some Japanese Breakfast tracks, some of which were already ballads (this version of "Tactics" isn't far removed from the original) and some of which have been radically reinvented (the funky "Be Sweet" is now a moody and brooding). Michelle Zauner also played songs from her other projects, BUMPER ("Ballad O") and Little Big League ("Lindsey").

And then there's the "Say It Ain't So" cover, which replicates all of the little fills and riffs of the original in a very different format.

Zauner said in a statement, "I played a very sloppy basement cover of 'Say It Ain't So' once with my band in college, so it was fun to revisit it from the opposite angle, stripped down with a string quartet. [Bandmate] Craig Hendrix did the arrangement and Quartet 121 performed the hell out of it."
