Earlier this year, it was revealed that Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker would be composing the soundtrack for a UK television adaptation of Nail Gaiman's Likely Stories. Now, details behind the new music have been revealed, and you can hear the brand new theme song.
Aptly dubbed Music from "Likely Stories," the soundtrack will arrive digitally on May 27 through Rough Trade. It was released on 7-inch vinyl in the UK today (May 20) and will be getting a physical North American release on June 3.
The new music hears Cocker collaborating with Portishead's Adrian Utley (who plays synth on the series' theme song), as well as other musicians like Alasdair Malloy, Serafina Steer, Bas Jan, Martin Slattery and Tom Skinner.
In a press release, Cocker described the songs as "four grubby tales set in all night cafes, low rent drinking dens and doctor's surgeries." He added, "I didn't have to leave my comfort zone for this assignment."
As previously reported, the upcoming series was directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (the team responsible for 20,000 Days on Earth), and stars Tom Hughes, Johnny Vegas, Kenneth Cranham and Paul Ritter. The four-part Likely Stories series is set to air in the UK beginning May 26.
