Music-obsessed film director Wes Anderson, of Rushmore and Darjeeling Limited fame, is finally making a movie that doesnt focus on common people and their neurotic tendencies. And oddly, it will also mark the first occasion Anderson has enlisted the songwriting talents of former Pulp front-man Jarvis Cocker.
In a Time Out Chicago interview, Cocker reveals that hes "written three, four songs, and some of that might become bits of the score for Andersons stop-motion, animated adaptation of the beloved Roald Dahl classic childrens story The Fantastic Mr. Fox.
The one-time Disney criticising musician seems excited by the opportunity to work on a childrens film, "do better and have "the chance to corrupt young minds. Sounds like an excellent pairing of sensibilities that could yield some of the most exciting work either artist has contributed to his respective field as of late.
Cocker is also working on his follow-up to his 2006 solo effort Jarvis, which isnt expected to surface until 2009 on Rough Trade.
