Jason Collett To Host Basement Variety Shows in Toronto Throughout December

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Nov 25, 2008

Broken Social Scene’s sensitive singer-songwriter guy Jason Collett will take his annual live revue back to the basement these coming holidays, spreading both a bit of music and some good charitable cheer.

In December, Collett and guests will set up in Toronto’s Dakota Tavern every Tuesday for the "Basement Revue,” a month-long residency that will find Collett hosting, performing and drawing in a diverse line-up of friends, musicians and local Toronto artists.

Arts & Crafts hasn’t told us exactly who’s set to play this year, but last time around the revue featured such live goodies as a Broken Social Scene jam session, an interactive cooking demonstration from celeb chef Michael P. Clive and a poetry reading from Andrew Whiteman. Also, in the 2008 edition, fellow Broken Social Scenester Kevin Drew will host the event on December 9 instead of Collett (apparently dude will be out of town).

Like at the upcoming Broken Social shows in Toronto this week, attendees of the revue are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the food bank Daily Beard.
