This year, November 24 marks Record Store Day's Black Friday event, and though it's not part of the massive list of exclusives, Secretly Canadian is set to serve up some fare of its own with a new single from late Songs: Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co. songwriter Jason Molina.
A new 7-inch from the label will press two of Molina's Black Sabbath covers to wax for the first time. Arriving November 24, the release finds the songwriter covering Sabbath's "Solitude" and "Snowblind," taken from Master of Reality and Vol. 4, respectively.
"Recorded in the Midwest in the late '90s, during Molina's multi-season run of batting 1.000, these two intimate songs are a bittersweet artifact of one of the rustbelt's titan songwriters," a statement reads. The 7-inch will also include an etching from Will Schaff on Side B.
Further information and pre-orders for the release can be found here.
Jason Molina passed away at just 39 in 2013.
