Jay Arner

'Live' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 17, 2013

Jay Arner and his merry band of dream-pop players have gifted us so much already this year, from the dude's excellent self-titled solo set to its accompanying remixable set of vocal stems. Since the band have been on-and-off the road since the summer, they've now issued the concert-inspired Jay Arner "Live".

What we have here are a number of cuts from Arner's back catalogue now complete with canned clapping and stage banter. There's a little extra fuzz-bass and an extended intro to "Midnight on South Granville," a ton of slapback drenching the vocals on power pop gems like "Don't Remind Me" and a whole lot of self-explanatory stage banter (i.e. "this one's called [insert song name]"). Also included is a cover of Brian Eno's classic "Here Come the Warm Jets."
