Jay Arner

"Midnight on South Granville"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 24, 2013

Vancouver's Jay Arner cops to feeling uncomfortable in his hometown on "Midnight on South Granville," the latest stream off of his self-titled solo debut, due June 25 through Mint Records.

The tune is the opening cut off the LP, and sets its sight on '80s nostalgia via its slicked-backed, greed-is-good-era synths and new wave janglings. Lyrically, Arner feels a little less sure of himself as he outlines a night spent drunkenly scouring the streets for laundry change. A video for "Midnight on South Granville" is apparently in the works, but you can sample the audio now in the player down below.
