Jay Som and Chastity Belt's Annie Truscott Form New Band Routine

Jay Som's Melina Duterte and Chastity Belt's Annie Truscott have formed a new band called Routine. Together, the pair will release their debut EP And Other Things on November 20 through Dead Oceans, and today they've shared the first glimpse of what's to come in a new song titled "Cady Road."

The duo wrote and recorded the new project back in spring during a trip to Joshua Tree. The five-song effort will arrive with album art by "oral historian" Ángel del Solar.

"In Annie's songs I hear a yearning for something just out of reach, something unachievable," Duterte said of the new project in a statement. "She's such a great singer, so it felt good to just layer instruments to make her vision for it feel fully fleshed out."

Truscott added in a post, "I haven't written songs since my high school songwriting class and I feel very grateful to share the first single."

Both musicians last released albums in 2019, Chastity Belt's self-titled in the fall and Jay Som's Anak Ko in the summer.
