Never has the American perspective of the Canadian music landscape been so succinctly summarized as it was in last night's episode of Jeopardy!, when contestant Kate Woomer-Deters buzzed in on a pretty obvious clue about Nickelback — and completely missed the mark.
After champion contestant Amy Schneider cleared the first four prompts of the gameshow's "Billboard Top 200 Albums" category, host Ken Jennings offered the clue, "'The Best Of' this Canadian band, 'Volume 1' included 'Rockstar,' 'How You Remind Me' & 17 other songs."
Woomer-Deters attempted to steal the $1000 final answer, responding, curiously, with "Arcade Fire." Third contestant Harsh Daga managed to buzz in at the last second with the correct answer, Nickelback (duh), as Schneider and Woomer-Deters looked on, visibly stumped.
Other answers in the segment pointed to Tyler, the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, H.E.R. and another Canadian heavyweight, Drake, all of which were won by Schneider.
