Jimi Hendrix

This is a straight re-issue of the 1997 Rhino release. The only upgrade is the menu that replaces the horrid psychedelia of the original. Disappointingly, there are no new features on this edition. No additional archival footage of Hendrix, no extra interviews of bassist Noel Redding or original manager Chas Chandler (both since departed). The one-hour film itself is excellent though. It details the history behind each song in Hendrix's masterpiece, offering unheard studio tracks and detailed interviews from his inner circle set against the turbulent historical backdrop of 1968. A worthwhile addition to any rock library. (Eagle Rock)
