Jimmy Edgar and Hudson Mohawke have shared a new collaborative single. The two topflight producers have shared "Bent," which you can hear below.
Per some accompanying Bandcamp notes, an initial loop from Mohawke soon became "a Detroit meets London 21st Century sonic exploration" with Edgar's involvement.
For real sound design heads, the notes explain that "Bent" was synthesized using modal synthesis, for "a sound quality that adds an additional layer of resonance that makes it sound as if there is more harmonic content."
Edgar is said to have collected these sounds through trading files with SOPHIE, using "lots of resonators, delay chains, feedback, karplus strong, BBD, phasing techniques."
Last year saw Edgar release a debut full-length as JETS with Machinedrum. This year, he has leant production to releases from Bloody Jay, B La B and Kidd Kenn.
Mohawke and Lunice ended the hiatus of TNGHT for a new EP in 2019. His most recent solo full-length is 2015's Lantern.
