John Lennon Honoured with His Own Limited-Edition Piano

John Lennon's 70th birthday has already been memorialized with online tributes, a commemorative coin and, er, the sale of a toilet seat, but the year-long tribute doesn't end there. Grand piano manufacturers Steinway & Sons have decided to class up the celebrations with a John Lennon-themed piano.

Dubbed the John Lennon "Imagine" Limited Edition Piano, the white grand piano is modelled after the Steinway grand Lennon famously gave to Yoko Ono for her birthday in 1971. The modern version has been customized with four of Lennon's famous drawings incorporated on the piano, as well as a replica of Lennon's signature, the opening bars to "Imagine" printed on the piano's gold plate and the words, "You May Say I'm a Dreamer" displayed on the rim.

"I am very excited about the launch of this truly unique piano," said American Steinway president Ron Losby. "John Lennon was a visionary in so many ways. It is an honour for Steinway & Sons to have been chosen by Mrs. Lennon to create this remarkable piano."

The John Lennon "Imagine" piano will be available in a variety of different sizes and will be made custom to orders. While pricing is not available as of yet, portions of the proceeds will go to the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. More info can be found here.
