Sometimes, the winter weather can be more than a little inhospitable, making the homebody lifestyle that much more appealing. And there's no better way to pass the time than to grab a cup of tea or hot chocolate and check out some new music and videos.
When it came to keeping warm, no one did it better this week than Josh Martinez in his new video. "Ashes," directed by Stuey Kubrick, features Martinez rapping by a bonfire while his girlfriend in the video destroys his apartment, keeping with the breakup theme of the song. It's one part sad, one part pyromania, all surprisingly warm.
Indie pop rocker Mac DeMarco graced us with one of the more unusual videos we've seen in a while. Along with an announcement for the follow-up to his previous album, 2, he shared the aural experience that is "A Little Bit of Pussy," complete with a video of a man wearing only a glittery hat and narrowly covering himself up with an acoustic guitar as he dances.
Major Lazer also gave us Volume 6 of their Lazer Strikes Back remix series, while Hannah Georges treated us to a solemn cover of the Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love."
Finally, we got a taste of the new self-titled St.Vincent record when she shared the song "Digital Witness." The horn-heavy, synth-soaked track features Dap Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss, giving the song a distinct groove, as well as elements from Midlake's McKenzie Smith. The whole thing is topped with Annie Clark's exquisite vocal performance.
