July Talk Celebrate the Longest Night of the Year with 'Solstice' EP

It features covers of James, Wilco, FKA twigs and more that the band have recorded over the last decade

July Talk have a tradition of recording an annual cover in observance of the winter solstice. This year, they're commemorating the longest night by making a selection of those covers — recorded over the last decade — available to stream for the first time with the Solstice EP.

The five-track collection (which features some beautifully medieval cover art) arrives via Six Shooter Records. It sees the band take on songs by Wilco, FKA twigs, Mclusky and Floyd Red Crow Westerman, as well as Exclaim! dock rock faves James's classic tune "Laid."

This feels like a fitting way to cap off what has been quite a year for the Toronto outfit, having released their fourth album, Remember Never Before, all the way back in January, and gone forth to tour behind it and release a documentary.
