The elusive Jürgen Paape (who doesn't DJ, perform live or give interviews) is co-founder of Köln's legendary techno label, Kompakt. Paape's Triumph was the label's first release back in 1998 and his tracks have regularly appeared on its sampler series, Total. Kompilation is the second release on the Kompakt Klassiks imprint, which was set up to focus on re-releasing rare and remastered gems from the Kompakt vaults. The album provides an overview of Paape's releases to date, including his familiar club hits ("So Weit Wie Noch Nie" and "Come Into My Life"), the hilarious, "Oompah"-driven "Ofterschwang," as well as new single "So Wird Die Zeit Gemacht." Anthemic and uplifting, the album ranges from pop-infused tech house to minimal techno and the gorgeously evocative, minor key "Rheintreue." The CD release also contains bonus track "Einklang" and is a genuinely limited edition release, with only 500 copies. Every dance floor should have one.
