Like it or not, Justin Bieber holds a lot of power in this world. In fact, the Biebs holds so much power we actually have him to thank for Marilyn Manson's continued relevance — or at least that's what Bieber told the shock rock icon himself.
Consequence of Sound recently spoke to Manson, asking him about that whole thing involving Bieber repurposing Marilyn Manson T-shirts as his own. Back when the shirts began emerging in 2016, designer Fear of God stated Manson had given Bieber permission to "reinterpret" his image. However, Manson now said that wasn't really how the whole thing went down.
Recounting the T-shirt story to CoS, Manson said that when he first met Bieber "he was [already] wearing the shirt that had his name on my shirt, and he said to me, 'I made you relevant again.'"
Manson then added, "Bad mistake to say to me."
Further explaining the encounter with Bieber, Manson continued, "The next day I told him I'd be at his soundcheck at Staples Center to do 'Beautiful People,'" though after Bieber apparently confessed that the T-shirt "was his idea," Manson bailed on the performance.
"He believed that I'd show up, because he was that stupid," Manson said.
However, Manson said he did get a bunch of cash from the shirts, explaining he "took all the proceeds from those shirts from him. They didn't even fight, they were just like, 'yea, we already know, we did wrong, so here's the money.'
Manson then concluded his talk with this Bieber takedown: "He was a real piece of shit in the way he had the arrogance to say that. He was a real touchy-feely guy, too, like, 'yo yo bro!' and touches you when he's talking. I'm like, you need to stand down, you're dick height on me, okay? [laughs] All right? So stand down, son."
As previously reported, Marilyn Manson is set to release his new album Heaven Upside Down on October 6 through Loma Vista.
