A week after the release of his latest effort, Yes!, Toronto, ON-based rapper K-Os has announced a Canadian tour with a twist. Rather than charge admission to the shows, the rhyme-slinger will adopt a "pay-what-you-want" system where the shows will be free and concertgoers can decide how much to pay once they're inside.
In an interview with CBC's Q, K-Os explained his reasoning for the lack of rigid pricing, saying, "I needed to do something to get back to the roots of what I really love about music, which is its spontaneity."
The tour, which kicks off in Vancouver on April 30, will see K-Os hit select cities in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. With the new system in place, it sounds like he may also feel forced to step up his game. "I can afford to be in a position where I have to play really well for people," he told Q. "That's true, that's my interest. I also can afford to wake up in the morning thinking that I could be in Halifax or Calgary and somebody who might never come to my show, if it's a sunny day, might go, 'Let's go check it out.'"
