Kataklysm

Serenity in Fire

Now on their seventh album overall, Montreal’s Kataklysm retain their earlier edge and are again dominating the brutal death metal genre with their brand of "Northern hyperblast” death metal. This album is much more refined than 2002’s Shadows and Dust, the group has managed to add more melody and groove into the songwriting without sacrificing any of their heaviness. New drummer Martin is fantastic; he punishes his kit to no end. His blast-beats have to be heard to believe how quick and precise his blast beats are. Vocalist Maurizio continues to improve on his screams/growls and is starting to stand out in genre which fields a large amount of generic singers. Welcome back.
