Back in January, it was reported that Kate Bush would be releasing material sometime this year. A spokesperson for the iconic British singer didn't confirm that this meant Bush was set to unleash a new album, however, stating only that something would pop up in 2011. We now have the details, and the result is that Bush will be releasing something old as something new.
Katebushnews.com reports that the performer will release Director's Cut, a collection of brand new recordings that find Bush revisiting some of her earlier work. The disc re-envisions tracks from 1989's The Sensual World and 1993's The Red Shoes.
The album is set to be released May 16 in the UK on Bush's own Fish People imprint in conjunction with EMI. A newly recorded version of The Sensual World track "Deeper Understanding" will be released as a single sometime in April.
Director's Cut will be released digitally, as a standard CD in a case-bound book, in a deluxe three-disc set packaged with Director's Cut, The Sensual World and a remastered The Red Shoes in a case-bound book, and two-disc vinyl package.
If you were all primed for a brand new Bush bundle, don't give up hope just yet. The singer is still said to be working on new material to follow up 2005's Aerial. There is, however, no scheduled release date at present time.
