Montreal's Kee Avil is riding the wave the release of her debut album Crease by mapping out a spring tour, with a few Canadian stops planned along the way.
The guitarist and producer — who was named one of Exclaim!'s New Faves in March — has also released a new video for "Drying," lifted off of the debut.
She'll kick off the journey in Europe with supporting acts Suuns and Horselords, before going on to perform in Toronto on June 10, Ottawa on June 11 and her home base of Montreal on June 17. She'll then finish off her Canadian run with a set at Vancouver's International Jazz Festival on June 25. Tickets are on sale now.
The "Drying" video sees almost plant-like amoeba slowly transforming across the screen, creating a cerebral, ambient atmosphere that aligns with the meticulously constructed single. As a whole, Crease has been described in a press release as a hodgepodge of "[c]hiselled twitchy minimalist guitar, sinuous electronics, industrial and prepared-instrument micro-samples, furtive rhythmic propulsion, all galvanized by the anxious intimacy of finely wrought lyricism/vocals."
