Kid Cudi is not having a good time on the internet. Early this morning, Cudi got into a scuffle with some fans on Twitter after they professed to enjoy the unofficial SoundCloud version of a Cudi song to the official release. In response, Cudi removed the song from SoundCloud, calling the fans "toxic" for "switchin up and talkin shit about me."
The beef started when a fan tweeted at Cudi with a screenshot of themselves listening to the SoundCloud version of "love." — the studio version appears as a bonus track on Cudi's greatest hits album The Boy Who Flew to the Moon Vol. 1, which he released in July — to which Cudi responded, "U know i released this officially right?"
Another fan then chimed in to let Cudi know that "The OG version on SoundCloud hits different." Cudi didn't like that, and he swiftly responded "Taking it off."
The song is now gone from Cudi's SoundCloud page, which is probably not what the original fan intended to happen when they tweeted at Cudi. Such is the wonder of Twitter!
Cudi then posted a series of tweets calling out fans for their "toxic" behaviour: "Anybody switchin up and talkin shit about me taking off my song on soundcloud thanx for showin who u truly are," Cudi wrote. "Its one of the reason i dont want to do music anymore. (Some) fans can be toxic and not cool sometimes. And this app really be showin some of yall true colors."
"Ill be happy when I stop makin albums so I dont have to deal w this madness anymore," he continued. "Dont get it twisted either im happy and this is not a rant before headlines make it that haha just being honest w everyone."
Cudi wrapped up the thread, writing, "I have a lot of blessings happening in my life and I wont let anything get me down becuz life is so great right now."
In a Twitter thread made last month, Cudi said that he's "doin 1 more album and then im done w my deal and not sure what ima do after that but yea, 1 more. Wont be next year. Keep u posted."
