The Killers Working on New Music with M83

Though still on the promotional trail behind last year's Battle Born, Las Vegas stadium rockers the Killers are apparently moving on from that song cycle and currently working on new material with M83's Anthony Gonzalez.

While details are slim, Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci confirmed the collaboration in an interview with NME, noting that the sessions have gone past the demo stage and into "real recordings."

"I mean, you never know what it's gonna be, I guess," he offered, adding, "But we have our engineer, and we're working with a couple of surprise guests, in the producer capacity. Some of it is sounding really cool. We can be guilty of making things so ornate, and sometimes that's a bad thing. So I always have conversations with [vocalist Brandon Flowers] about working from a smaller palate, simplifying things. If these new tracks develop a theme, a common thread, then that could be the start of something."

It's unclear what the band's plans are for the new music, and Gonzalez has yet to make a comment on the collaboration. The Killers are currently touring the world in support of Battle Born, and you can see their show schedule here.
