Fans may have feared for the future of Killing Joke when frontman Jaz Coleman disappeared on a nomadic adventure this past summer, but the British post-punk act have just announced a new singles compilation, as well as some 2013 North American tour dates.
The new year will mark the band's 35th anniversary, and The Singles Collection 1979-2012 is just the beginning of the festivities. The collection will feature career-spanning singles, as well as rarities, including previously unreleased studio tracks. It is set to arrive on April 15 via Spinefarm/Universal.
The band will then embark on a North American tour that kicks off in New York on April 19 before making Canadian stops in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Scroll down to the bottom to check out the details.
Finally, the band have also hinted that a brand new studio album will be on its way towards the end of 2013. It will mark the follow up to this year's MMXII.
A statement about the anniversary celebrations from Coleman reads: "Considering it's supposed to be the end of the world in a short time, it gives me great pleasure to announce a new singles album with some real rarities on it, shortly followed by a new studio recording. The book 'Letters From Cythera' is coming out, and yes, gigs are starting in March."
He finished up by stating, "Have a great 2012 and fuck the Mayans! After all, their calendar didn't predict their own demise…"
