Two years after London's King Krule (a.k.a. Archy Marshall) delivered his self-titled EP, the low-key bedroom pop player has unveiled plans for his first full-length. Titled 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, the LP arrives on August 24, his 19th birthday, via True Panther Sounds/XL.
A press release notes that the set was produced by Marshall and Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, Savages), with its 14 songs supposedly comprising "a loose knit meditation on regret and discontent, loss of faith and renewal of hope, and optimism in the face of desperation."
The record is said to float from '50s-inspired soul, to bluesy stomps, to more avant-garde territories, while lyrically, the baritone-voiced singer-songwriter apparently encapsulates "youthful disaffection" on "Ceiling." He also offers up an updated version of "Out Getting Ribs," which he had previously recorded under the name Zoo Kid.
