Kirk Knight

"Dead Friends" (ft. Noname Gypsy, Thundercat)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 30, 2015

Pro Era rapper/producer Kirk Knight has revealed yet another piece of his forthcoming solo set Late Knight Special, though this time he's got bass wiz Thundercat helping him out with the groove. Together, they've pieced together the project cut "Dead Friends."

As with many of his tracks, Knight has handled the production duties himself. He fills the piece with a swell of sped-up guitar samples and smooth oohs. Knight also offers up lines dishing on tight relationships, since-passed pals, making it on his own, and what the future holds.

Noname Gypsy drops a few bars about contemporaries' obituaries before a wild guitar solo runs across the track. A quick statement notes: "RIP Shamir, Steelo, Junior B and all the fallen angels we all lost."

Smooth but surging with electrified fire, the life-honouring crew cut can be found below. An official due date for Late Knight Special has yet to arrive.
