Toronto indie rockers Kiwi Jr. have announced plans for a new full-length album titled Cooler Returns. The record is set to arrive on January 22 through Sub Pop and the band's own imprint, Kiwi Club.

The album will mark their debut with Sub Pop and their sophomore effort following 2019's Football Money. Much like the year from which it was birthed, Cooler Returns is set to tackle the new decade's seemingly never-ending foibles. From quarantine to "Undecided Voters," the band promise to ease the transition into 2021 with "timely" new music.

Here's Cooler Returns as the band described it in a release:

Put together like a thousand-piece puzzle, assembled in flow state through the first dull stretch of quarantine, sanitized singer shuffling to sanitized studio by streetcar, masked like it's the kind of work where getting recognized means getting killed, Cooler Returns materializes as a sprawling survey from the first few bites of the terrible twenties, an investigative exposé of recent history buried under the headlines & ancient kings buried under parking lots.

Today, Kiwi Jr. have shared the album's title track alongside a new video directed by Sean Egerton Foreman.

"No one is able to play live shows, so using the latest technology we have replicated the most accurate version possible of what Kiwi Jr. shows once looked like," Kiwi Jr. vocalist Jeremy Gaudet said of the video.
