Its hard to believe how much ass Germanys Kreator is still kicking, a solid 20 years after their debut. Believe it or not, the band seems to still be heading towards some unknown peak (kinda like Testament and Saxon), as this album and the last have been two of the most scorching, heads down and balls out thrash releases the band has ever composed. With Enemy of God, Kreator are essentially recreating the thrash tornado they perfected with 2001s Violent Revolution. But with those razor-sharp riffs honed to such frantically fast perfection, the relentless scissor beats propelling the beast ever forth and the patented scratchy vocals bringing it all home, who cares? The clincher is how memorable Kreators songs are; after hearing the title track or "Impossible Brutality (the ultimate Kreator song title) once, theyre stuck in the listeners head, no questions asked. With no regard for modern trends or trying to be cool, the bands sincere love for metal shines through on every one of these 12 tracks. Kreator could re-release the same album every year and Id be happy, if the results were always like this. Waving the flag of old school metal high without being cheesy or embarrassing, Enemy of God is perfectly solid and incredibly enjoyable.
