Ladytron

Best of 00-10

BY Daniel SylvesterPublished Mar 29, 2011

It's incredible to think that Ladytron (the Liverpool quartet born of the same early '00s electroclash scene as soon-to-be-forgotten artists like Fischerspooner, Miss Kittin and Princess Superstar) would last a decade. It's even more incredible to see how much quality material the band have amassed in this short amount of time. Best of 00-10 splits its tracklist exclusively from their four LPs, working mostly as an introduction to the band. The two exclusives ("Ace of Hz" and Death in June cover "Little Black Angel") are straight readers, working at less than the price of admission. Newcomers may find Best of 00-10 top-heavy, as their most immediately satisfying tracks ("Destroy Everything You Touch," "Seventeen," "Ghosts" and "Playgirl") all appear on the first half of the album, while 604 standouts "He Took Her to a Movie" and "Commodore Rock" are inauspiciously absent. If nothing else, Best of 00-10 proves that Ladytron have enough material to fill such cash-grabs.
