Land of Talk Cancel Tour Dates

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Sep 25, 2008

There’s currently some bad news coming from the Land of Talk camp: the Montreal trio have been forced to cancel all their remaining September tour dates. The cancellations are due to front-woman Elizabeth Powell’s recent voice problems, which over the weekend literally left her speechless.

Following Powell losing her voice, doctors have advised her to remain, "under vocal rest,” says the press release, to repair and heal her voice. Via Land of Talk’s MySpace page, Powell herself said:

It gets worse before it gets better. Here are some more things I cannot do: no alcohol. no caffeine (no chocolate!!), no dairy, no sugar, no "throat irritants." The only silver lining I could find in this unfortunate cloud is that this could be my only time to press the "reset" button on my health and sanity (interchangeable if you ask me) before the long haul of touring Some Are Lakes for ten months consecutively.

Perhaps another silver lining to be found is that Land of Talk’s tour dates with Broken Social Scene starting in October are still to go ahead. Also, as previously reported, the band’s full-length debut Some Are Lakes is still scheduled to drop via themselves with help from Secret City and Saddle Creek on October 7. And If you want a digital copy, you can even buy one now on iTunes.
