Lauryn Hill

"Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)"

Her tax troubles have literally forced her to sign a new record deal and start releasing new music, and now we get the first taste of Lauryn Hill's return with "Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)."

The busy track is packed with sounds, from explosive drums to over-the-top synths, background vocals and weird alien voices. All the while, Hill refuses to sing, instead opting for tongue twisting raps throughout the whole thing.

Taking to her Tumblr, she explained that she was rushed into releasing the song with the following post:

Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday's tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today's unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!
