Layo & Bushwacka!

Feels Closer

Layo Paskin and Matthew "Bushwacka!” Benjamin gained a committed crowd in the mid-’90s in London, UK with avid dancing fans that supported their DJing and production careers, as well as the Olmeto label operation for their first two albums. Soon after, this duo relocated to Brooklyn where they would come to meet a few notable artists they would eventually make music with — many of which are featured on their latest and most acclaimed album to date, Feels Closer. Their new strategy towards electronic music production, which is really what makes Feels Closer, is the addition of live artists; "Life2Live” features vocals from Chicago producer Green Velvet, the title track features live percussionist Mino Cinelu, Tim Hutton from Groove Armada provides spaced-out vocals and trombone on "Me and You” — one of the album’s more down-tempo tracks — and the vocals of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong are featured and remixed on "Isn’t this a Lovely Day.” The involvement of such disparate musicians has allowed Layo & Bushwacka! to seamlessly amalgamate the various genres of techno, jazz, pop and opera.
