Canadian cities have their transit network voiceover heroes, and Manchester, UK, has now found one of its own in Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
Marking the launch of a new local bus service, and the city hosting the Beyond the Music festival and conference, Gallagher's voice can be heard providing transit information to those who "Roll with It" aboard Manchester's Metrolink transit system.
Video published by the BBC captures the Oasis lead vocalist delivering route details, while also boosting his hometownsoccer football club. Gallagher is heard announcing, "This tram is for Ashton, the next stop is the Etihad Campus, the home of the champions of England and the champions of Europe. Come on, City!"
A spokesman for the artist said [via Sky News], "Liam's doing his bit to get behind the festival and encourage people to get into the city and support new up-and-coming talent."
"When the request was first made by [Greater Manchester mayor] Andy Burnham, Liam loved the idea of surprising tram users by doing the announcements, and he was given the chance to choose his favourite line. You'll have to get onto a tram into the city to find out which it is."
Mayor Burnham added: "I am sure that Liam's dulcet tones will wake up a few early-morning commuters, brighten up many a journey, and produce a lot of smiles along the way."
Earlier this year, rumours of an Oasis reunion were swiftly put to rest — leaving an AI-generated approximation as the next best thing.
