The follow-up to Lido Pimienta's Polaris Prize win for 2016's La Papessa, Miss Colombia displays an artist who has a clear vision combined with a desire to experiment with sounds. Working alongside the production skills of Prince Nifty (Les Mouches' Matt Smith), some songs, like "No Pude," crackle with electricity, others, like "Quiero Que Me Salves" with Colombian percussion troupe Sexteto Tabalá, showcase Pimienta's voice over Afro-Colombian rhythms. "Nada," a duet with Li Saumet of Bomba Estéreo is a revelation – an ethereal hymn to motherhood and sacrifice. Each song is different, and different is good. Very, very good.
