Lil B Lifts Curse on Kevin Durant

The NBA was rocked today (July 4) with the massive news that longtime Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has signed to the Golden State Warriors for a two-year deal, but that's not the only ball-related story of the day. After years of hexing, GS-loving rapper Lil B has finally lifted his infamous "curse" on Durant.

The basketball player's decision to head to the team was made today through the Players Tribune and quickly met with mixed reactions. A quick glance at Twitter reveals that NBA fans were split on whether teaming KD with Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will make the Warriors unstoppable in the 2016-17 season or set them up for a big fall.

Having unleashed his ruthless "Based God Curse" on Durant in 2011, B is letting bygones be bygones, however, and is now welcoming the all-star player to Oakland.
Backing up a bit, the beef started when Durant had posted a since-deleted tweet labelling Lil B a "wack rapper." In response, the prolific lyricist had prophesied over twitter that this unwarranted diss meant Durant would never win a ring.

An online back-and-forth between almost led to a one-on-one game between Durant and Lil B, who had once tried out for the Warriors' D-League team in Santa Cruz, but the match didn't happen. In 2014, B put a track called "Fuck KD" on his Hoop Life mixtape.

Only time will tell if KD's alliance with Chef Curry will provide something tasty for the Bay, but it seems as if the beef between Lil B and the player has been quashed. This would appear to be a major relief to other famous rapping NBA fans.
Not everyone is happy about the free agency deal, though. Los Angeles Clippers diehard Vince Staples went in on Durant shortly after the signing was announced, suggesting the player's "next chapter" was less than well-intentioned.
