Toronto dance rock trio Lioness have issued a self-titled EP and some remix collections since forming in 2007, but the pride are just about to enter a new phase in their career with the announcement that they'll soon deliver their debut full-length, The Golden Killer.
A press release explains that the album arrives on April 17 through New Romantic. Produced by Leon Taheny (Owen Pallett, Holy Fuck), the 12-track outing is said to showcase "ecstatic dance and heavy rock moods," and points to their sound coming off like a cross between Daft Punk and Black Sabbath. While the group's new disc is primed with "dark dance floor fillers," the album closes with "Stay Awhile," a "mournful" tribute to two fallen friends (You Say Party drummer Devon Clifford and Toronto artist Will Munro) that passed away during the writing sessions for The Golden Killer.
