Liturgy

"Quetzalcoatl" (video)

Post-black metal explorers Liturgy certainly divided their audience with the release of their strange new album The Ark Work. Whether you're a fan or not, however, there's no denying that they've crafted a compelling collection of songs. Up next, they've treated "Quetzalcoatl" to a new music video.

The shredding mid-tempo track is paired with an abstract video courtesy of Japanese collective AUJIK. A press release explains that AUJIK "is constructed as an esoteric sect that believes in a form of animistic technology, influenced by Shinto and AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)."

The write-up also includes a statement from Liturgy frontman Hunt Hunter-Hendrix. "I was interested in working with AUJIK because they use CGI to traverse boundaries between the organic, machinic, subjective, sacred and profane in a stunning way, and the project seemed to complement my own efforts with the arrangements on The Ark Work," he said. "I asked them to make a meditative piece drawing from Doré's famous illustration of The Divine Comedy depicting Dante and Beatrice gazing into the Empyrean realm, and they took it from there."
