This October, Liz Phair will finally reissue the three pre-Exile in Guyville demo tapes she recorded under the name Girlysound, which nabbed her a record deal from Matador, in 1992. The double-CD release will include all three Girlysound tapes on one disc, and Phair's baffling new album, Funstyle, on another.
Although many of the Girlysound tracks have appeared in rewritten forms on later Phair albums, this will mark the first time the tapes have been released in their original versions. As Pitchfork reports, the double CD will see release on October 19, courtesy of Rocket Science Ventures.
Could this mean increased Girlysound representation on Phair's upcoming West Coast tour? Be prepared to sit through Funstyle tracks to find out.
