Los Campesinos! Bore of Romance, Announce Sophomore Album

BY Stephen CarlickPublished Oct 26, 2009

The last time we heard from Welsh electro punk rockers Los Campesinos!, they were heading out on a North American tour that took them through most major cities in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. This time, it's big news: the Welsh seven-piece are ready to release their second official full-length, Romance Is Boring, on Arts & Crafts come January 26.

The recording of the album marks the first time the band have been in the studio since playing major tours and festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza in support of their debut LP, 2008's We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed. The album, which was produced by John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, the Wu-Tang Clan), sounds as if it's going to reflect their newfound comfort within the music scene, as Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart, Parenthetical Girls' Zac Pennington and the Dead Science's Jherek Bischoff all guest.

And according to a not on the band's website, "It is a record about the death and decay of the human body, sex, lost love, mental breakdown, football and, ultimately, that there probably isn't a light at the end of the tunnel."

Los Campesinos! will be announcing a North American tour in support of Romance Is Boring soon. In the meantime, you can hear the first single, "There Are Listed Buildings" as part of a video on the band's website here. The single will be released digitally on November 3.
