Lou Reed to Re-record Metal Machine Music

BY Cam LindsayPublished Aug 1, 2007

Because nobody would listen to it the first time it was released, or when it was reissued however many times, Lou Reed has decided to re-record his 1975 feedback experiment, Metal Machine Music.

An album that Rolling Stone once called "the tubular groaning of a galactic refrigerator," Reed will conduct the recording alongside German classical ensemble Zeitcracker, who performed the album (somehow) acoustically back in a 2002 Berlin concert.

Lou Reed: Metal Machine Music - Performed by Zeitkratzer Live will be released on September 3 as a DVD, and some time later on as a triple CD.
