Madlib and Freddie Gibbs Team Up for New EP

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 21, 2011

Following the release of his excellent Cold Day in Hell mixtape, Freddie Gibbs has hit the studio once again for another project, this time with producer Madlib. The two have teamed up on a cryptic new EP, most likely called Thuggin'.

As Hypetrak reports, Gibbs recently appeared onstage at a Madlib concert in San Francisco. At the merch table, the EP was available, though it was listed as a tour exclusive limited to 500 copies. The record includes the vocal track and instrumental for the song "Thuggin'," as well as some other supplementary material.

While some sites list the release as Thuggin', others have referred to the project as MadGibbs. Stay tuned for more details, and hopefully a broader release, as they become available.

UPDATE: Stones Throw has now confirmed it will release Thuggin' on December 13. That's the twelve-inch's cover above, and you can pre-order the release, as well as hear some more song samples, here.

  Thuggin':

1. "Thuggin'" (vocal)
2. "Thuggin'" (instrumental)
3. "Rio Call'" (bonus beats)
4. "Deep" (vocal)
5. "Deep" (instrumental)
6. "Cold On The Blvd" (bonus beats)
